Matilda Skelton Mace is a Berlin-based interdisciplinary artist, creative technologist & DJ with over a decade of experience creating installations and immersive works across physical and digital media, as well as dressing spaces, from design to production, fabrication and maintenance.

She works primarily with light as a medium, through sculpture, projection and installation, exploring the nature of perception and taking inspiration from natural and geological forms and juxtaposing them with simple and complex geometry, often inspired by the harshness of human and mechanical intervention on landscapes.

She is drawn to alternative exhibition spaces: past installations span nightclubs and cathedrals, warehouses and forests, and is particularly interested in alternative ways of lighting club spaces, escaping the cold, mechanical strictures of stage lighting & programming, instead exploring organic and evolving motion using bespoke geometric forms.

A graduate of the MA Computational Arts course at Goldsmiths, she designs installations and spaces with multisensory rave spa collective Overflow and is a resident DJ with off-location Berlin rave collective Power Play, upending expectations of the club experience across Berlin, London and beyond with idiosyncratic themes and emergency bananas.

She has worked with Max Factor, Gottwood festival and Zeiss Planetarium, as well as developing commissioned online work 'Sky Island' after being selected as recipient of the Aspen Online Art Award 2016. In 2019 she exhibited 'Earth Module' alongside Luke Jerram’s 'Museum of the Moon' at Sherborne Abbey and Nothe Fort, as part of Dorset Moon’s ‘Under the Moon’ programme, produced by Activate Performing Arts, b-side and Bournemouth Arts by the Sea festival.
